The members of Keahiakahoe Canoe Club would like to welcome all paddlers to join them for them on Saturday, April 16, 2022 for the annual Kahiau Iron Challenge held at Sand Island. Onolicious lunch included and commemorative hat for each participant.

***Registration Link & Race Flyer can be found here.

To borrow a canoe, please call Ben Ancheta at 808-387-8510.

Race Background: The Kahiau Challenge began in 2003 after a Bradley Canoe named Kahiau was lost at sea. In an effort to replace a greatly needed resource, Keahiakahoe Canoe Club petitioned to host the event and it had been one of the highlights of the preseason. Paddlers from associations enjoy the hospitality and aloha extended by the host club.

After the race, please join Keahiakahoe and the White Van Band for a kanikapila session by their newly created container mural. Bring your instrument of choice and your voices! Hula dancers welcome!

The design and artwork was created by the Kamehameha Mural Club in collaboration with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program and Keahiakahoe Canoe Club. Mahalo to these creative and talented haumana of Kamehameha Schools Kapalama.
